A quarter-goal Asian handicap is not settled by rounding the line to the nearest half-goal. In the usual split-line convention, the stake is divided equally across the neighbouring whole and half lines. Reading those two parts separately explains a half win or half loss without inventing a special discount on the whole bet.

Expand the line before looking at a score

The common splits are −0.25 into 0 and −0.5; −0.75 into −0.5 and −1; +0.25 into 0 and +0.5; and +0.75 into +0.5 and +1. The sign belongs to the selected team. Do not reverse the home and away teams when copying the line.

A whole-line tie after the handicap is applied is a push in this convention, returning that part’s stake. A half-goal line cannot tie when the underlying score difference is an integer. Each half is evaluated before the returns are added together.

Work through −0.25 on a draw

Assume a hypothetical pre-match wager of 10 units at decimal odds 2.00, with no fees, and use the stated final score for the market. Five units go on 0 and five on −0.5. If the selected team draws, the 0 half pushes and returns five; the −0.5 half loses and returns zero.

Total return is five units, so the net result is −5. This is a half loss, not a void of the whole ten and not a five-unit service charge.

Work through −0.75 on a one-goal win

With the same 10-unit stake and 2.00 teaching price, five units are on −0.5 and five on −1. A win by exactly one goal makes the first half win and the second push. Returns are 5 × 2.00 plus 5, giving 15 units total and five units of net profit.

If the team wins by two or more, both halves win under the assumed score basis. If it draws or loses, both halves lose. These outcomes follow the split, not a rule that all negative quarter lines behave alike.

Positive lines need the same two-step reading

At +0.25, a draw makes the 0 half push and the +0.5 half win. At +0.75, a one-goal loss makes the +0.5 half lose and the +1 half push. Do not call both cases a “half result” without identifying whether money was won or lost.

Keep the market’s time scope separate

Confirm the selected period, treatment of extra time, abandonment and any in-play convention. A pre-match illustration cannot settle a live market whose score basis differs. The cited bookmaker’s guide verifies the split-line concept; its operator-specific rules are not adopted as M2 rules.
